Kaspersky: Phishing attacks in e-pays multiply on Black Friday eve

MOSCOW, Nov 25 (PRIME) -- The number of phishing attacks in online payments has increased on the eve of the Black Friday shopping event and the sales season, and a total number of such threats in the world jumped 208% from September till October, Russian antivirus software maker Kaspersky said on Thursday in a statement.

“Perpetrators usually adapt their scams to the agenda; this is why the start of the sales season and the Black Friday have not become an exception. We see fraudsters today often disguise themselves under pages of electronic payments and online stores,” senior content analyst Tatyana Shcherbakova said.

Kaspersky registered more than 40 million phishing attacks on online stores and financial institutions in January–October as fraudsters mimicked popular brands.
